Visiting children's homes in Kenya with UtuRise Foundation

Across the country, children’s homes in Kenya open their doors to orphaned and vulnerable children who have nowhere else to turn. These homes do vital work — yet they often stretch limited resources across many children. UtuRise Foundation exists to walk alongside them.

What children’s homes in Kenya face

Many homes run on the generosity of a few people. Consequently, food, school supplies, and sanitary items can run short, especially as the number of children grows.

Funding is rarely predictable. Furthermore, staff are often caring for dozens of children at once, which leaves little time for one-on-one attention. The result is real strain on people who are already giving everything they have.

How UtuRise comes alongside

Rather than replacing the work of these homes, we strengthen it. During each visit, our youth-led team brings practical support and genuine presence.

Here’s what that looks like in practice:

  • Food and essentials — meals, sanitary supplies, and everyday basics
  • School support — stationery and learning needs
  • Time and presence — simply being with the children, not just dropping off goods
  • Documentation — photos and records of exactly what was given

Because of this approach, the children’s homes in Kenya we partner with gain a reliable friend, not a one-time visitor.

Stories from the homes we serve

Over the past four years, we’ve supported several homes and community partners. For example, we’ve visited Tollen Children’s Home with food, sanitary supplies, and stationery. In addition, our charity event with Grace Alliance Ministry delivered rice, clothing, and school fees, while our Samburu outreach supported children in care alongside local ministries.

Each visit is more than a delivery. It’s a relationship.
